Canvimation2 now ready.
The major user improvements are the ability to re-use shapes, scenes, tracks and sprites in animations without any conflicts. Some bugs have also been sorted out. Whilst you will, of course, be able to use any drawings or animations you have exported - saved canvases, scenes, tracks, sprites and films in the current application will not be usable by the new application. The source code for the old application will remain available at https://github.com/canvimation/canvimation.github.com in the old master branch. Sorry about this but the re-write structure was just too different to deal with old files.

Hopefully animations are now easier to use. I wrote it using Firefox and have fully worked through all aspects with this browser - bugs may still be possible please let me know if you find any.
With Chrome, IE, Safari and Opera I have tried out odd aspects which seem to work OK - would like users to give these a good try out and let me know how it goes.

I have released Canvimation an extension of Canvasdraw that brings you animation. It is still under development and I would welcome anyone who wants to help with the project. It is open source so you are welcome to develop it. As part of my development I am trying to tidy up the code so it is more understandable and make more use of objects.

Canvasdraw moves

In an email from Google they stated that 'Almost all [app engine] applications will be billed more under the new pricing'. As I run Canvasdraw as a hobby and I makes no money I am moving it. The new host does not run Python and so only Javascript will be used. This means that the gallery will not run and there will be no option for saving your drawings. You can still export them either as an HTML page or as a text string that you can copy, paste and save and then import later.

Currently I am working on adding animation and will look at ways any of your work can be saved and put in a gallery in the future.

Where Next

With enough interest and encouragement I would like to add a text object and an image object that could have the Canvas effects added. Further I would like to consider some limited animation effects such as tweening and path following. Anyone interested in collaboration let me know.

Canvasdraw

Canvasdraw is now available. This allows you to easily produce drawings using a what you draw is what you see system. The resulting drawings can be exported as an HTML page containing the canvas tag and code to reproduce the drawing. This code can be used on your own pages.

The application can be found at  http://canvas-draw.appspot.com/

More information in the help file at https://sites.google.com/site/canvasdraw/

Please use and let me have some feedback.
